The Self-styled Major Callixte Nsabimana alias Sankara who claimed to be the leader of an armed group called National Liberation Forces (FLN) was arrested, as confirmed by Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) and is expected before court soon.
Nsabimana Calixte a.k.a Sankara was born in 1982 in Rwabicuma, Nyanza district. He attended secondary school at St Aloys in Rwamagana and the University studies at National University of Rwanda. He was expelled when he was in his final year over genocide denial and inciting divisionism among University students. He enrolled his LLB at University of Lay Adventists of Kigali (UNILAK) and later fled to South Africa due to theft and defrauding money from his friend whom they shared business.
Sankara joined FLN, an armed wing of Rusesabagina’s MRCD also a splinter group from FDLR that work closely with Kayumba Nyamwasa’s RNC. Sankara became the 2nd Vice President of MRCD and the spokesperson of its armed wing FLN. Joining FLN, he promoted himself on the rank of Major and claimed to be behind the terror attacks in Nyaruguru district and claimed to have seized a part of Nyungwe National Park, even though the media did not have confirmation.
It was recently announced that Callixte Sankara was arrested in Comoros Islands with the help of Rwandan security agents but there has been no confirmation from the Rwanda government to confirm the authenticity of the news.
On 21st April 2019, on VOA Africa, Sankara’s boss Paul Rusesabagina a.k.a Rusisibiranya, denied the news, announcing that Nsabimana Sankara was secure and located in a safe place adding that they reinforced his security. He announced that the Government of Rwanda attempted to arrest him but with the help of friends of MRCD in Southern Africa, Sankara managed to escape.

Contrary to Rusesabgina’s announcement, the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) announced that Nsabimana Callixte a.k.a Sankara is in their custody and is processing his criminal case file.
The crimes, according to RIB, include: Creation of an irregular armed group; complicity in committing terrorist acts; conspiracy and incitement to commit terrorist acts; taking persons hostage; murder; and looting. Nsabimana’s case file will be submitted to the National Public Prosecution Authority in accordance with Rwandan criminal procedure law.
This means that Paul Rusesabagina was not credible while announcing the safety of his FLN’s spokesperson. In a meeting with diplomats attached to Rwanda, Min. Sezibera who is also the government spokesperson appealed to diplomats to engage their governments to help bring Rwandan dissidents to justice namely: Paul Rusesabagina, Kayumba Nyamwasa, David Himbara, Charlotte Mukankusi and others.
The arrest of the self-styled major Callixte Sankara has shaken both his boss Paul Rusesabagina and Kayumba Nyamwasa plus other collaborators who fear they are the next to be brought to Justice. Sources close to Paul Rusesabagina confided The Great Lakes Eye that he is very afraid and is planning to leave Belgium and to go back to the USA scaring that Belgium that recently voted the law penalizing genocide denial will not let him enjoying freedom with his crimes.
Nsabimana Callixte Sankara is in RIB custody, who is the next? Rusasabagina? Kayumba Nyamwasa? Let’s wait and see.
