Onana’s “Holocauste au Congo” is a hate bible

The book “Holocauste au Congo” by Franco-Cameroonian Charles Onana was confirmed to be a bible of hatred made up of lies and confusion after a deep analysis of its content by three Congolese: Belhar Mbuyi (journalist), Thomas Gamakolo (lawyer), and Percy Tambwe (human rights defender).

The trio published their analysis in mid-August, shedding light on the accusations made in the book against neighboring countries - Uganda, Burundi, and Rwanda.

Published in April 2023, Onana’s book alleges that since 1994, militias and troops of Rwanda supported by the United States and France invaded the Democratic Republic of Congo. He claimed that there have been 10 million deaths in DRC, 500,000 women raped and 110, 000 square kilometers of devastated forests.

Onana attributed all the crimes committed in DRC to the Banyamulenge and their alleged Rwandan supporters, and accused the Banyamulenge of being behind the plot aimed at destroying DRC.

Contrary, the Banyamulenge in South Kivu province were the first victims of massacres by their Babembe neighbors in Fizi territory. There are many UN reports that relate the beginning of the conflicts and the chronology of the various massacres that marked eastern DRC.

The Congolese analysts drew the attention of Congolese leaders to the danger that the book “Holocauste au Congo” represents on national cohesion, the current and future relations between the people of the DRC and the countries of the Great Lakes region, and the development of hate in the country.

The analysis found that despite the author's claim to have discovered so-called archives that he talks about, in reality his book is made of a narrative of oracles without any verifiable source.

Evidence recorded in different years – UN documents, NGO reports, or press articles – still exist today. If Onana was a real researcher, he should have exploited the documents which detail facts that most of Congolese have witnessed.

He would then have understood that even though Kinyarwanda speaking Congolese were being persecuted by other Congolese communities in colonial era, after the 25 years of President Mobutu Sese Seko's rule, the problems of eastern DRC resumed in 1990s, following the country's democratization process.

The denial of the nationality of Congolese Tutsi is the main cause of the rebellions created in the region but poor leadership also contributed to the creation of armed groups totaling more than 260 today.

The book “Holocauste au Congo” is a depressing and complex work of hate propaganda.

This bible of hatred is the work of a Nazi-like intoxicated phobia and hate of Rwanda and the Tutsi as a community. Onana has given himself the mission of spreading anti-Tutsi hate with a sinister delight in the DRC, the Great Lakes region and Africa.
